this is more how i think than what i actually do.

-hmm...originally i warmed it up in lightroom (cloudy). i tend to prefer yellowish tones to "natural" tones. so i fucked with that. i felt the exposure was good, so i left it. that's all i do in lightroom.

-then i sent the fucker to photoshop where i wasn't sure. tried various crops. settled on the good ole square. i felt that the photo would've looked best in black and white, so i hit the "channels" and marked "red" to check it out, and even thought the second girl from the right's dress blew out, i was into it. usually, if i decide an image needs or wants to be black and white, i do that all in lightroom. uhh...details...i leave it in "color" and just desaturate everything using "HSL" and fuck with the "luminance" to make things selectively "pop" and/or recede or whatever bullshit. but today, photoshop. channels.

-i softened the skin by duplicating the layer. change the mode to "luminance". opacity to 30. gaussian blur at 7 percent-ish. added a layer mask. painted out things like hair, jewelry etc with black at 100 percent to get them sharp. let everything else be blurred. fuck it. then i realized i hated the death of field. and did the tilt shift thing to fuck that shit over. yeah. cool.

-random dodging (hightlights) and burning (midtones).

i'll write a real one off these when i hate my job less. because this was jibberish. basicly, i fuck with shit til it looks "okay" to me. like that feeling you get when you KNOW that you're done taking a shit and that 'crate and barrel' catalog is no longer satisfying to look through for the fifteenth time.

-i also thought about girls a lot. and the up and coming weekend. and how my ass hurts from this uncomfortable chair.
